[attr="class","scrollpost_base"] Loud and bright - two things that were the antithesis to any recluse. Yet to those recovering, exposure was recommended. This, however, seemed to be a bit much. [break][break] Desiderium sat at a table on the distant side of a random tavern in Ludwig. It seemed like a good place, she’d thought, to learn more about the interactions of others. Yet, there weren’t very many players present. The NPCs were lively, but rambling on about nonsense. Their cups never seemed to end as they would shout and holler before taking another swig from their mugs. They seemed stupid, hooting about nothing - meaningless rants and cheers; however, the game was marketed as realistic. Perhaps, save for the bottomless beer, this was how people simply were? [break][break] At that point the woman was humming along to the song strummed by the bard in the corner, tapping her fingers to the pace. It had been barely audible through the bustle when she had first entered, lost to every other noise that made its way to her eardrums, but after the first twenty minutes had passed, she found herself tuning more into its melody. The focus had helped her adjust to the rush against her senses when she had entered. Although the vocals were still lost to the room, the strum of the lute was as upbeat as ever, cutting through the cacophony of the crowd. [break][break] She moved her hand to the cup on her table. She hadn’t had much of it, she realized, picking up the glass to swirl it around for a moment. Although it wasn’t the best block, any time she shifted her mask, the smells of the room would decide to attack her in full strength. Both man and woman alike in this place reeked of sweat and flammability. Desiderium had put it off enough to find herself parched. Sadly, she had gotten it an hour and a half prior, and so it would have to be warm by now. Although nothing of the adult variety, she still wasn’t certain about drinking it warm nor pitching the coin to buy another drink. A scowl formed under her mask. [break][break] The sound seemed to drown out a bit, and the lamb’s eyes darted up - meeting an NPC in the room finally doing something different. A hooded man paced from the opposite side of the tavern, jumping atop the center table. Those sitting there seemed to shout something at him and move forward, growing more red than simply caused by the alcohol as their hands reached for their pockets. After a glance from the man, they seemed to resort to groans and mutters while taking their drinks and shifting to another table. The woman’s brows knit. That was an odd display. [break][break] It was something she couldn’t quite discern, and the moment was over. The hooded man didn’t linger on it either, and began to shout all the while scouring the room. His hands cupped his mouth as to amplify his volume - but to Desiderium, he was already loud enough. [break][break] “Who here has the gut to handle a drink or two?” The man bellowed over the crowd. “I challenge anyone in this room to a competition!” [break][break] The NPCs didn’t bat an eye. None even so much as spared a glance at the man since he had taken the table. The woman tilted her head. It was quite odd, she thought. Did the other players notice him? It seemed they had, she assured herself, studying their gaze flickering to the room's new centerpiece. Perhaps it was a player event? That was the only thing that she could reason to be the cause of this oddity. Perhaps, if she spoke to him, she could get him to stop. [break][break] The woman rose from her seat, discarding the warm beverage that was sitting atop it, and strode to the center table. “Excuse me!” She’d call to him, garnering his attention midway through another cry for competitors. “What is this competition of which you speak?” [break][break] “A challenger?” He produced what could be called a hearty chortle. His voice was still raised as though he were trying to preach to the Gods. The woman shrunk slightly, raising her hands to her ears. “The rules are simple - you outdrink me, you get a grand reward! More platinum than you could ever wish for! You in?” [break][break] She stared at the man, and the man stared back. Until she completed the dialogue, it would appear that he would be quiet. She liked this, although, would it end once she broke eye contact? For a moment, she considered keeping him in this staring contest until she left before the feeling of the desert returned to the forefront of her consciousness. She did need a drink. [break][break] “As long as it’s on you.” [break][break] Desiderium set herself on the stool to the furthest end of the table and gave a small nod. She would’ve thought that to be the end of it; alas, he opened the floor for more challengers. Whether the thud of her horns against the table was heard or not wasn’t of any concern to the lamb. She had caught another player or two moving towards the man before she had dropped her head, which was promising, but all she could do was hope they arrived faster. She needed this drink - and more importantly, she needed him to use his goddamn inside voice.

[attr="class","liliya-post-2"] In hopes of getting his guild up and running, Hargrave had found himself searching for ways to make some decent coin down in the seedy underbelly of Siegfried. It was here, in Ludwig, that he had currently found himself, wandering about and attempting to see if anyone would peruse his wares at the very least. The better part of a day had passed as he had attempted to find someone willing to accommodate him and ultimately, there had been none that were interested. Unsurprising, given the fact that most of those that resided down here could simply steal away whatever they needed. [break][break] Growing weary from all of time that he had spent outdoors, the dwarf would find his way into a nearby bar. He was going to need a drink if he was intending on heading back out later. A hard drink most likely. Thankfully, it would seem as though the world had been willing to pay him back for his efforts! Not long after Hargrave had entered the tavern, had a man hopped atop of a nearby table and declared a challenge to the patrons of the tavern. In exchange for beating him in terms of a drinking competition, the man was willing to part with great amounts of platinum. When compared to the lack of responses he was getting, when it had come to hawking his wares, this challenge was effectively a godsend! [break][break] Unwilling to depart from the tavern without at least attempting to con the man out of his coin, Hargrave had immediately thrown his hand in the air and started to approach the man. "I'll take that challenge!" These were the only words that would depart from the dwarfs lips as he took a seat beside a masked and horned woman. A woman that had happened to have her head down. "Everything alright, las? If you'd like to speak over a mug of ale, I'm more than willing. After all, I'll be taking the winnings with me. With all that platinum, I'd be more than willing to prove ya all the drinks you need." [break][break] It was evident that the dwarf had believed in himself, when it had come to this competition. While Hargrave might not have been capable of downing drink after drink and getting away with it, thanks to a dwarven racial, he had had quite the decent HP stat. It was thanks to this stat specifically that Hargrave had believed himself to already be the winner of said competition. "Or if you'd prefer that I simply left you alone, I'd be more than willing to do that as well. Just don't wish to see a fellow player down in the slumps."

Raifah had just first logged in. His last spot? Somewhere in Siegfried; specifically in Ludwig, he later learned from the locals roaming around. He busied himself, as busy as anybody could be in an exoframe suit. In reality, it really just looked like that he was one of those armored knights who came to serve justice to the criminal underworld of Empyrea -- directly at the heart of it all. He was not that at all, more so considering that he was going to walk right into a shady tavern filled with shadier-looking hooded hoodlums or introverts thinking thickly-veiled thoughts behind the stench of hard alcohol. For what reason? Well...to live.[break][break]
He saw some heads turn to look at the human-sized suit of armor that just walked in. He opened his mouth to voice a greeting only for it to be drowned out by the riffraff. So, he just managed a small wave of his arm and sat down on one of the few remaining tables that didn't seem too full---[break][break]
"OI! Watch it, pal. Seat's taken."[break][break]
Raifah held up his hands when he saw the local brandish a...mug at him, waving it around. "Oh, sorry, sir! I'll just stand over here."[break][break]
His polite reply earned him a scoff and a spit his direction. No harm done, thankfully. This place already had enough of that violence. Though, it was awfully clear that this man really wanted him gone. All Raifah had to do, was look for an apt enough place where it seems like the people there wouldn't mind him. He would be quiet too if they asked![break][break]
In his search for a place to stay at, he found someone that seemed rather nice enough -- a lady with a mask on and with colorful hair, tied into braids thicker than his, aura resembling that of sheep. He thought it rather pretty and he found himself staring at her mask for long periods of time, then remembered his little hobby outside the game, making masks, and an old friend of his that wore A mask. Not quite like the lady at the other side of the tavern though. Maybe...she was the same? Heh, how funny would that be?[break][break]
Raifah began to walk over to where she sat but stopped at the site of a hooded figure hopping up a table and catching the attention of everyone around him.[break][break]
"Who here has the gut to handle a drink or two? I challenge anyone to this room to a competition!"[break][break]
Raifah thought about it. He never had any sort of drink like the ones served at the tavern; he only learned that his father was a heavy drinker who got constant scolding from her mother to "put down the bottle", and that was the end of that. He never was curious as to how it tasted...until now. Everyone seemed to like drinking it, so much so, their faces turned red with excitement and joy! People who loved their food and drink usually were noisy after all.[break][break]
The hooded man continued. "The rules here are simple -- you outdrink me, you get a grand reward! More platinum than you could ever wish for! You in?"[break][break]
It took a few seconds for Raifah to notice that the lady and the man were talking to each other that time. Something stirred in his chest--- he couldn't pinpoint the emotion exactly. It was akin to that of an itch on his skin, or under it, deep enough so that his nails would have to rip through a multitude of fleshy layers to claw out the culprit sensation.[break][break]
But somehow, he just knew he had to join this contest. To...win...something important. Yes. Something very important to him.[break][break]
"I accept!" He shouted out at the man, not sparing a second any more to consider if he had a realistic chance of winning this competition, only assuming that he had a genetic predisposition for tolerance.[break][break]
Raifah marched to where the lady was, now accompanied by a short man who was trying to comfort her. He sounded chivalrous and...more knightly than how Raifah's current suit of armor made him out to be. He silently took notes of how to properly talk to a lady, which didn't involve a man shouting at a woman like the people around him. He tried making conversation to the duo. "Hello! Are you two here for the contest?"
The lamb was not unaware to those who also took up the man's challenge, having counted the seconds between their cries to join and their presence at the table. The first to join in sat himself right beside her, she felt. Not within the personal bubble, she acknowledged, but close enough to conversate. He spoke boldly towards her, but not to full volume like the NPC above them. He offered her drinks or peace - an interesting set of options. She would acknowledge neither of them, gathering to raise her head to see the man who spoke as if he had already won. Odd, she believed. The competition had yet to occur. [break][break] Her gaze found a smaller figure than she had expected for the men of this game. Most she had seen towered over her for one reason or another. Yet even sitting, this one was a bit beneath her. He wasn't a child, clearly. Children didn't have beards… nor attended bars, she thought. [break][break] Perhaps she should respond to the man. What was the first question he had asked? Oh, yes. [break][break] “I had hoped he would quiet down a bit,” Desiderium answered, hoping her voice wasn't lost to the rest of the room. “The noise in here has been… unpleasant.” [break][break] Her pause was to find the word. Perhaps it had lasted longer than normally accepted - perhaps not. It was of no matter to the woman, who shifted her attention to the final respondent. It was… a person, in quite the… interesting armor. She blinked, pink irises simply staring through the gaps in her mask. She observed for a moment, glancing around his being as she caught bits of the metal that seemed to glow. It dawned on her that this was likely to have been one of the Hephaestus classes, and the armor he wore was likely his weapon as well. Having seemed to complete her assessment of the figure before her, she would nod. [break][break] “Yes. I would not be sitting here otherwise,” she expressed, shifting her gaze to the hooded man who - finally - seemed to lower his volume. He was content with this group, apparently, as he dropped from his standing on the table. [break][break] “Excellent, excellent!” The man clasped his hands together. The grin he bore was wide, nearly eye to eye with a hint of malice - something that Desiderium would not quite pick up on. He darted to the bar, and came back with a tray of four mugs - each filled to the brim with a deep amber liquid. It was a miracle none of it sloshed over as he came back, setting them down in front of the three of them. The last he saved for himself as he settled on the opposite side of them, bringing it from the tray to the table in front of him. [break][break] Desiderium found her eyes shifting from the liquid back to the man. To her, he seemed… perhaps the word was “giddy”? The smile implied happiness - they often do. He began to chuckle, something to imply amusement. It would take him an attempt or two to actually manage a sentence out between his laughter. Was the group taking him up on his challenge really enough to create this extent of emotion within him? [break][break] “I hope you all enjoy my - hehe - special brew. You’re A lucky few. It's not a drink open to most of the bar, so - hehe - you ready? Last to stop drinking wins~” [break][break] She shifted her mask to allow the mug access to her lips at the expense of a portion of her vision. Narrowed to slits, she could no longer observe the man before them - not that she inherently wanted to. Something seemed… off about him, but it was something that she would be done trying to decipher for the moment. The drink was upon her, and her thirst could finally be quenched. The smells of the room hit her once more, sweat and drink blending together into something nauseating. She brought the mug closer to her lips, hoping it would drown out the rest of the room. To an extent it did work, the alcohol becoming the strongest catch to her senses with its sting. She wondered, was there cinnamon in this? [break][break] After a pause to let everyone get comfortable and ready, the man spoke again. [break][break] “And… heh - go!” [break][break] The girl took gentle but quick swallows of the beverage, not intending to compete but not wanting the drink charged to her either. The taste made her nose wrinkle and her throat burn. It was an odd sensation, to say the least, but not intolerable. As one who hadn't drunk anything of the variety before, perhaps to the others she appeared to take it very well. The mask was good at keeping things that way, she had noticed. But beneath it, her brows had knit together. As she reached near to the bottom of her drink, she wouldn't be surprised if the others had already finished theirs and were on to another, but she felt a small daze. [break][break] Perhaps she was a lightweight, she pondered. But something felt heavier. Her eyes began to droop, her head took conscious effort to keep up. She set the mug down, barely not knocking it over as she dragged her own hands away from it. She attempted to stand, pointing a finger at the man across from her, only to be met with shaky legs. Her mouth opened, and maybe a word or two came out; the moment became a blur as the world grew darker, the last sensation she'd know being the impact of her body against the tavern’s hardwood floor.

[attr="class","liliya-post-2"] The dwarf would find himself nodding along to the words that Desiderium had offered in response to his query. While he might not know much about the woman beside him, including what her name would be, there was one thing that he could tell for certain. The physical response that she had emitted when pertaining to the announcers booming voice? Well it was near palpable. Enough for him to have noticed it as he had initially took his seat. Of course, now that she had spoken on the matter, Hargrave could prove to himself that this was indeed the case. "I see.. Well hopefully we can wrap things up sooner rather than later then. Once we find our third, things should be kicking off. I'll be sure to drink you both under the table so that we can finish things quickly." [break][break] Almost as though the gods themselves had been answering their prayers, a third would eventually make their way on over towards the table. From what Hargrave could tell, given the overall design of the armor in addition to the Magicore that Hargrave had caught wind of, the man before him had been that of an Exoframe Pilot. Not the first that he had encountered and far from a rare sight within Siegfried. [break][break] As the man had taken a seat alongside the pair, Hargrave was sure to offer the man a toothy grin. "Welcome young Hephaestus..!" Reaching out to offer the man a handshake, Hargrave would allow for his grin to grow all the larger. "I hope that you enjoy what the bar has to offer while it lasts. Much like I told this lass, I'll be taking the win. So be sure to take what you can while you can." A soft laugh would proceed to escape from the mans lips after this, his tone having died down a bit so that he wouldn't overwhelm the woman beside him. [break][break] Thankfully it wouldn't take much longer for things to officially kick off. With the knightly individual having joined them, the announcer had decided to rush off and acquire their drinks, only to return soon after with four mugs. One for each of the challengers and of course one for himself. Of course the mans personality had been mildly off-putting to say in the least. Perhaps it was due to the mans belief in himself? If not that than Hargrave couldn't be sure as to why he had been laughing so much. Something that he had attempted to ignore, so as to not be rude. [break][break] Once the man before them had announced that it was time for each of the participants to drink, Hargrave would grab ahold of his mug and down the liquid contained within as though it were nothing. If he had attempted such a feat in real life, he was sure to have been on his ass and choking on the liquid at the very least. With how wide his neck, and thusly his throat, had been as a dwarf though? Well it was no issue at all! Something that he would come to regret with time. [break][break] Having downed his mug as quickly as he had, Hargrave would then proceed to slam the mug onto the surface of the table before laughing. "Done!" The dwarf was just about to get up and gloat when he had taken notice of the fact that the man that had initiated this all had still had a filled mug. Paired with that filled mug had been a shit-eating grin that had filled the dwarf with worry. Especially as he had found himself starting to get woozy.. Only to hit the table full bodied only a moment later. It was then, as he had fallen into unconsciousness, that the system would offer him a prompt detailing the objectives of the mission that was at hand. The mission that he hadn't even realized he had activated.

Raifah seemed welcome enough at the table. And while waiting for the drinks to be ready, he studied his companions more. First, he had to take off his helmet. "There! Much better."[break][break]
The man dwarfing the naturally short Raifah 'introduced' himself to his mind first. Upon closer inspection, the dwarf sounded proud of his ability to drink. A lot more confident too. Raifah returned the other's heartiness with a chuckle before shaking his hand as well. "I appreciate the gesture, sir! But may the best drinker win! I came here empty-stomached."[break][break]
In reality, that wouldn't help Raifah at all in this contest; hell, it might even make it worse! Foresight wasn't the man's best suit and drinking needed a different kind of strength.[break][break]
He next eyed the girl in the mask. The HUD of his robot now out of the way, he could observe her with a more personal lens, per se. She was moody, yet quiet, so maybe she really just didn't like noise. Gosh, he hoped he wasn't as noisy with his entrance! Raifah hadn't talked to a lot of girls, he realized, after failing to come up with a proper reply to her flat bluntness. But hey! One shouldn't always judge others with a limited first impression. He thought that mask was good at hiding things. He'd just have to wait for a proper chance to talk to her.[break][break]
The fourth, the one who held the drinking contest, was next, now speaking to the three who had joined. "I hope you all enjoy my--- hehe--- special brew. You’re a lucky few. It's not a drink open to most of the bar, so--- hehe--- you ready? Last to stop drinking wins~"[break][break]
He was a pretty weird guy, even for Raifah. No one he knew laughed that much, nor did they laugh like that to express excitement. Though again--- he reminded himself--- it would be rude to assume he was all that. After all, he was already nice enough to offer them free special drinks for the price of one's pride and just a bit of their time. To Raifah, those were already traits of niceness. He was excited to finally drink and experience all that this world had to offer![break][break]
At the hooded man's signal, he soon picked up the drink and began to down it as he would a cup of water. It was then the punch kicked in. He wasn't prepared. Not at all. "Oogh...! Hagh!" He felt like he just drank pure concentrated heat, choking him for his amateur mistake. He soon began to go on a coughing fit; it was a miracle how he hadn't vomited the special brew out yet. Yeesh! Maybe there was a good reason why this wasn't even served in the first place![break][break]
"I'm...gonna need air." mentioned Raifah, putting his exofrane's head back on and breathing. Moments later, he started to sway--- his knees first gave out. Wow, he really wasn't all that cut out for this, was he? Was he...going to die? He sure hoped not. What would he tell his mom then? That he tried drinking alcohol and nearly died doing so?[break][break]
The last thing he saw before completely blacking out was the sinister grin on the hooded man's face. Afterwards...Raifah simply couldn't remember.
[attr="class","scrollpost_base"]The ground was not what she expected. The rough grain against her cheek was far different than the hard wood Desiderium believed she had collapsed on initially. She pushed herself up, wiping the dirt from her face and peered around. [break][break] Perhaps the feeling was confusion. [break][break] Shelves, crates, and metal within a room of darkness - this was very clearly not the bar that they just moments before were in. Her head swiveled. It was a large room - far too large. The only wall remotely near to them was the one behind her looking rusty but sturdy. Her breathing picked up some pace as her brows knit. It was a wave of feeling. Despite the room’s cold, she felt herself get warm. The steady thump in her skull felt as though her mind was clawing to escape. Distant, something seemed to rattle - metal against metal. Thumps and clanks seemed to come from the far side of the building. It was... was the word "uneasy"? Regardless, the sheer difference was overwhelming. The bar, her peers, the loud noises and uncomfortable setting - surely she hadn't… [break][break] Her gaze fell to the floor, catching sight of her companions in this place - the dwarf and the exoframe from before. Hopefully the human was still inside of it, she thought, but for now she was assured. At least something was real. As real as a game could be, anyways, which did say a bit as the headache, she determined, was likely just a result of their prior drink. She begun to continue her analysis of the room, attention quickly caught by her missing accessory. Beside the others rested her mask, unscathed apart from the dirt of the dampened floor messing its outside. She scooped it up, secured it to her face, and - content in this finding - pulled up the game's menu. [break][break] Her quest log had a notification? [break][break] Ah, right. The box had appeared briefly in her unconscious state. She hadn't paid it too much mind, but now she deemed it best to read through. The information was basic. They drank some funny drinks and now they were in some warehouse… somewhere. It seemed like they’d have to fight a couple enemies, maybe help someone in here? In truth, the lamb wasn’t sure - but she tabbed to equip her bow all the same. A distant metal squealed, like a door on banshee hinges, open and shut. Voices chattered and whined, sobbed even, but none of it was of any discernable volume to even the beastfolk. [break][break] She scowled slightly at the noise, but Desiderium closed the menu and returned her attention to her companions, hoping they would be awake by now. In truth, she wasn’t sure if they had already awoken prior - she had only studied them enough to know that she wasn’t completely losing it. She reached to her back, bringing her weapon to her hands. Although most would use it to begin moving forward, she instead poked the top of it towards the exoframe. [break][break] “You two are awake, yes?” She’d pause enough for a response from each of them, retracting her bow to its more common hold, ready for use. Her other hand would hesitate, but extend to either of them - should they have seemed to mind assistance picking themselves up. “We appear to be in a warehouse. And it sounds like we’re not alone in here. I hope the hangover isn’t too bad for you guys.”

The acrid smell that often accompanied abandoned warehouses had immediately assaulted the dwarfs senses as his vision had yet to fully stabilize itself. Once he had fully awoken however, bringing his mind to the present, Hargrave would start to lift himself off of the ground in a bit of annoyance. Just where exactly was he? And how did he get here? The last thing that he had remembered was.. [break][break] Just as Hargrave had begun to think back on how they might have gotten here, a notification window would appear before him. It would seem as though, in accepting the drink, that the trio had inadvertently started a quest. One that forced them into the [Unconscious] state before placing them here. Now having a better grasp over what was happening, a deathly cold look would overtake the dwarfs eyes. It would only last for a ghost of a moment, of course, seeing as how it had disappeared once Hargrave took note of the other two that were still with him. [break][break] "Yeah.. Awake for now." Swaying his head from side to side, Hargrave would properly right himself before standing fully from the ground. Once he had managed to stand properly, he would equip his dual shields and start to survey the area. "..I can't believe I allowed for us to fall into this kind of situation. The fact that I hadn't noticed what was happening.. I apologize for the inconvenience." Even if he knew that there was nothing that he could have done prior to the quest having started, Hargrave had still taken on a sense of responsibility for the pair that were beside him. As someone that was capable of defending against a wide array of things, he should have been able to note just what had led them here. And yet he had been completely blindsided. "If you'll allow me, I'll take the lead in getting us out of here. I'm certain that we'll have to fight out way out of this so.. I'll be sure to draw the aggro of anyone that we come across." [break][break] Once he had said his piece of the matter, Hargrave would allow for his gaze to run properly over the pair that he would have to work alongside. From what he could tell, thanks to his special [Detect Magic Item] passive ability, the two hadn't managed to secure any sort of magical goods beforehand. This was to be expected, given the low rate of players that he encountered that managed to acquire some, so he would brush the thought off. As the most well equipped for the situation, it would seem as though he would surely have to work to draw the attention of the others whilst leaving the rest to the pair. It was the least that he could do.

Raifah was the last of the three drinkers to awake, only being woken up when the lady poked at his exoframe with her bow. The human inside the suit blinked, hearing the thud from inside with a slight feel of the bow moving his otherwise lightweight suit of armor. "I'm awake...! I'm...awake."[break][break]
He held up his hand towards the girl's offer to decline and slowly picked himself up in a slightly clumsy manner that matched his cumbersome build. He also received the notification of accepting the quest. Initially, he thought he must have been really drunk that he started a bunch of quests that were WAY out of his level. However, once he saw the familiar faces with him, he quickly threw that thought out the window. He swayed off balance before studying his surroundings. Sheesh, it's dark in here. he thought to himself.[break][break]
"We just have to get out of here, right?" Raifah studied his own build and skills as he asked his question. "Or do we have to rescue the others over here? Well, whatever the plan is, I'll be here to follow you."[break][break]
He didn't like to fight and would prefer to sneak their way out, though he kept his mouth shut at that. Besides, it took one look at his build to safely assume that it was impossible to miss someone like him. Lamenting his predicament, he let out a sigh. He hoped the enemies weren't too hard to kill.
